Educational television programs for children aged 2 years and under were not able to stimulate brain development and could even hamper its development.
Children under the age of two can not learn anything from watching TV. But watch it too much it can slow the progression of the talk and make them behave badly.
Watching television is only useful for children as long as they can understand and benefit from the event, mainly because it can play freely and engage with others.
DVDs like Baby Einstein products are specifically marketed to educate infants and toddlers, while there are also many programs aimed at appropriate age range.
Although not presented for educational purposes in particular, a popular BBC program for children in the form of repetition numbers and simple phrases is considered educational.
The researchers also say that parents are too quick to accept the educational value of a TV program without actually examining whether children can learn something from it.
"Many video programs for infants and toddlers that are marketed as educational programs proven not support this. Educational programs for children can be understood only if the quality content and context. Much research has consistently found that children aged two years and over the one who usually already have this understanding, "said Dr. Ari Brown, director of the board of the American Academy of Pediatrics as reported by The Telegraph, Tuesday (10/18/2011).
"Time is more valuable play for brain development than electronic media. Children learn to think creatively, solve problems and develop reasoning and motor skills at an early age through a structured game. Playing free to also teach them how to entertain yourself," added Dr. . Brown.
Dr. Brown also underscored that television makers view children as potential consumers of electronic media.
